Overcharged in Seoul? Official ways to report it

If a shop, street stall or taxi charged you unfairly, these are the official Korean channels for visitors. 1330 and the Tourist Complaint Center both work in English.

1. Call 1330 first (24/7, free)

Korea Tourism Organization's travel and interpretation line — 24/7, all year, in 8 languages. They can interpret between you and the shop on the spot and take overcharging reports. Dial 1330 in Korea or +82-2-1330 from an overseas phone. Chat, KakaoTalk and LINE are also available.

2. File a complaint online (Tourist Complaint Center)

The official complaint site run by the Korea Tourism Organization (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism): register your email, submit the details, then receive the investigation result. Available in 8 languages. Include your name and clear, factual details — vague or slanderous reports are rejected.

3. Taxi overcharging: QR form or 120

Since June 2025 Seoul has run a QR complaint form for foreign taxi passengers (English, Chinese, Japanese). Scan the QR code on the cards handed out at Incheon and Gimpo international departures to report after your ride — overcharging, refusal to take you, or not using the meter. You can also call Seoul's 120 Dasan Call Center.

Before you report: keep these

• The receipt (Seoul taxi receipts now show the fare and ride times in English) • The shop's name and location, and photos of the menu or price tags • For taxis, a photo of the plate number plus the date and time • Pay by card if you can, so there's a record

In an emergency, call 112 (police)

If you're threatened or not allowed to leave, call 112 right away.
